• Visual Tasks

  • Visual Tasks are Tasks with a visual element that everyone can see being performed.
    Seeing someone do a Visual Task is proof that they are not an Impostor as Impostors can't do tasks.
    Visual effects for tasks can be turned off by the Host, so make sure you check the lobby settings before the game starts - so you don't accidentally accuse a crewmate of being Impostor.
    
    On Polus there are a total of 2 visual tasks - tap below to read about them:

• Common Tasks

  • Common Tasks are tasks that are given to every player (including the Impostors fake tasks list).
    If any player doesn't have any common task, no one has those tasks.
    There can be between 0-2 Common Tasks, the exact amount depends on the lobby settings placed by the Host.
    
    On Polus, these are the possible Common Tasks:
    Wires
    Insert Keys in Dropship
    Swipe card in Office
    Scan Boarding Pass in Office

• Sabotage/Emergencies

  • Seismic Emergency

    Critical: When the Seismic Stabilizers are sabotaged, the crewmates have 60 seconds to fix it - the Impostor(s) win if the counter reaches 0, as it causes a devastating earthquake and/or volcano eruption, effectively killing all crewmates.
    
    To fix this sabotage, the two hand-scanners (One to the left, the other to the right of Dropship) need to be held down simultaneously; it requires at least 2 players to do this.
    
    All sabotages (except doors) will prevent players from pressing the Emergency Button, though bodies can still be reported.
    Reporting a body will automatically fix this sabotage.
    
    Tip: Impostors can access the Sabotage map from the Sabotage button in the lower right of the screen.
    Sabotages are a good way to distract/buy time if you killed someone in the other end of the map.
    
    
    

  • Lights Emergency

    Not Critical: When Lights are sabotaged, it drastically reduces the vision radius for the Crewmates, so they will be unable to see other players around them until they are very close. The Impostor(s) vision remains unaffected, gaining them a large advantage.
    
    To fix this sabotage, players will have to flip the switches on a circuit breaker in Electrical and make the small light above each switch turn bright green.
    
    All sabotages (except doors) will prevent players from pressing the Emergency Button, though bodies can still be reported.
    Reporting a body won't fix this sabotage.
    
    Tip: Impostors can access the Sabotage map from the Sabotage button in the lower right of the screen.
    This sabotage is a good way to get a clean kill due to Crewmates' low vision radius, or to distract/buy time.
    
    
    

  • Comms Emergency

    Not Critical: When Communications are sabotaged, it prevents Crewmates from seeing their task list and only display the alert to fix the sabotage (although tasks can still be done, if you remember what and where they are).
    It also disables the Security Cameras, Vitals and Admin Map, but doesn't affect the Impostor(s) fake Task List.
    
    To fix this sabotage, head to the antenna to the top right of Communications and adjust the dial until the wavelengths match and the small red light is no longer lit.
    
    All sabotages (except doors) will prevent players from pressing the Emergency Button, though bodies can still be reported.
    Reporting a body won't fix this sabotage.
    
    Tip: Impostors can access the Sabotage map from the Sabotage button in the lower right of the screen.
    This sabotage is a good way to buy time if the crewmates are completing their tasks too fast
    
    
    

• Sabotaging Doors

  • The Impostor can sabotage the doors to specific rooms by pushing the Door Sabotage button from the Sabotage map.
    
    Door sabotages on Polus work very differently than those on The Skeld.
    When doors are sabotaged, they remain locked until a player unlocks them - even if a meeting/body is called, they remain locked.
    So potentionally a door might only stay closed for a few seconds, or it might stay closed for multiple rounds - it depending on the players.
    
    Players can unlock doors by flicking the lit bright-red switches.
    Sabotaging doors can be pretty useful when trying to delay crewmates (e.g. before/after calling an emergency sabotage) or to hide a body (make sure to close multiple doors so it's less conspicuous).
    
    On Polus each door has a 30 second cool-down before you can sabotage it again, but other sabotages can be called without any cooldown.
    
    Doors that can be sabotaged:
    Electrical Doors
    O2 Doors
    Office Doors
    Laboratory Doors
    Weapons Door
    Communications Door
    Storage Door
    
    Tip: You can access the Sabotage map from the Sabotage button in the lower right of the screen.
    

• Using Vents

  • There are 12 vents that the Impostor can use.
    Not all of them are connected - so it is important to have them memorised if you want to escape suspicion after a clean kill.
    
    When the Impostor is close to a vent, the Sabotage button will be replaced with the Vent button.
    There is no vent opening animation on Polus, as the vent itself is just a hole in the ground.
    
    Once in the vents, arrows are displayed, pointing in the directions of connected vents - always make sure no one is around you and there are no cameras on in the area when exiting.
    Hiding in the vents pauses both the player's kill and sabotage cooldowns until exited.
    
    Vents that are connected:

    Tip: While vents allow for faster transportation for an Impostor, it can easily out you. Even if someone doesn’t see you use the vents, your disappearance from one area and reappearance in another can draw suspicion, so use the vents strategically. Wiki for more strategy tips.
    

• Tools/Abilities

  • Emergency Button

    The Emergency button is located in the center of Cafeteria, the second starting location.
    Pushing the button brings all the living players together for an Emergency Meeting where you can discuss and vote, just like when a body is found.
    
    The button should only be used for actual emergencies (e.g. you see the Impostor vent) as it interrupts everyone.
    
    Tip: The button cooldown and amount of times it can be used per player is determined by the Host.
    
    

  • Admin Map

    The Admin Map (close map) is an ability all players can use, it shows how many players are in each room in real-time.
    
    This is very useful to verify that people are where they claim to be; if someone claims to have been in Comms but the map showed otherwise for the whole round, you know they are lying.
    
    All players will be shown as Yellow on the map, and it doesn't show exact positions nor people in corridors.
    Dead bodies and Impostors inside of vents will be shown.
    
    Tip: When a Crewmate is killed, the icon in the room they died in will flash. So if there are only two people in a room, one of them blinks and a body is reported immediately after, it's likely a self-report.

  • Vitals

    The Vitals ability can be used by all players to check other players' vital signs - if they are alive, dead or has disconnected.
    There are a lot of strategies involving vitals, e.g. if someone is killed and the body is immediately reported, it is likely to be a self-report by an Impostor.
    This ability can be pretty powerful especially if paired with the Admin Map to deduce information about the kill and the location of the body.
    
    OK means the player is alive.
    DEAD means the player has been killed in this round, their body will be somewhere on the map. However, if someone decides to leave the game right after being killed, they will display as D/C instead.
    D/C means the player has disconnected.
    The players appear in the order that they joined the game.

  • Door Log

    The Door Log located in Communications is an ability all players can use.
    It logs players who walk through any of the 3 sensors located in North, Southwest and Southeast of the Y hallway.
    
    North sensor logs the top of the Y hallway.
    Southwest sensor logs the left side of the Y hallway.
    Southeast sensor logs the right side of the Y hallway.
    
    When a player passes a sensor, the sensor will flash blue - when that happens, the players name and sensor location will be listed in the log.
    This can be a very useful tool to catch Impostors who've been venting, or figuring out who was near who.
    
    Keep in mind that each sensor has a cooldown of 5 seconds before it can log the same user again; meaning that if someone makes a quick U-turn, it will not be detected.
    The log will only show the 20 most recent events and does not reset when a body or meeting is called.
    If comms sabotage is triggered, the log will be wiped clean.
    
    Tip: Impostors kill cooldown is paused while they're viewing the logs.
